Vision for the Visually Challenged: Illuminating the Lives of the Blind with Christ’s Love
India, the world’s second-largest population, is also home to the largest number of blind people globally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 63 million people in India are visually impaired, and 8 million are completely blind. Tragically, only 5% of blind children under the age of 16 receive any education.

It is in this context that Vision for the Visually Challenged (VVC) stands as a beacon of hope, dedicated to sharing the gospel and providing comprehensive care for visually challenged individuals and their families. Founded in 2006 by a team of like-minded elders from different churches, VVC was officially registered as a trust in 2021.
At the helm of VVC is Christuraj Joseph, the director who has been serving since the ministry’s inception. Christuraj is deeply passionate about reaching the visually challenged community with the love of Christ and empowering them to live dignified, self-sufficient lives. He leads a team of 20 missionaries who cover 19 districts across Maharashtra and 2 districts in Tamil Nadu.
VVC’s primary focus is on five key areas: Gospel Outreach, Discipleship and Church Integration, Education and Vocational Training, Braille Bible Distribution, and Family Care. Through these initiatives, they are making a profound impact on the lives of the visually challenged.
