Ruama’s primary focus is on serving at-risk children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 in the Murão Shantytown. They provide essential before and after-school programs that offer a safe and nurturing environment for the children. During these programs, the children participate in educational projects covering subjects like science, math and Portuguese, as well as engaging in games, crafts, supervised play, and Bible lessons. Ruama also provides the children with a nutritious meal every day.
In addition to their work with children, Ruama has recently expanded its reach to include the families of the children they serve. They recognize the importance of working with the entire family to address the pressing social and missionary needs in the community. Ruama offers integrated projects aimed at combating violence and domestic abuse and providing support to single mothers. This includes establishing a weekly women’s group.
Ruama has seen countless lives transformed through its programs. As a Christian ministry, Ruama’s work is rooted in the love of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. They have seen the power of God’s Word transform the lives of the children and families they serve, helping them develop a deeper relationship with the Lord.
