What sets CEMIPRE apart is its unwavering commitment to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ while providing practical, life-changing support. Every service offered – from occupational therapy and speech/language therapy to Braille instruction and computer literacy training – is infused with the message of God’s love and the value and dignity of each person, rather than focusing solely on their disability.
One powerful story is that of Nora, a woman in her fifties who had been going blind for about 10 years. Nora shared the grieving process she had to go through before accepting her vision loss, initially relying on her family for everything. But then she realized she needed to be more independent. Nora came to CEMIPRE to learn the skills she needed to manage her life on her own.
Now, Nora is full of enthusiasm and optimism. She counts steps, walks quickly with her cane, and has even learned to cook in stages by lining up ingredients. Most importantly, Nora has been using the Bible to learn Braille, memorizing passages from Isaiah that speak of the coming of Christ.
