Ministry Update: MISIUR (Peru)

The Peruvian school summer break runs from December through February. During these months, MISIUR provided activities for the children in their community, hosting Vacation Bible schools and summer workshops, including tutoring, sports skills, and baking classes. Many parents work on farms from early morning until sunset and cannot provide lunch for their children, so MISIUR provides a nutritious and hot lunch every day. They also offered counseling, health classes, and medical checks for young people.

MISIUR offered humanitarian aid to victims of mudslides from recent summer storms in the La Vizcachera area around Lima, distributing bags of groceries and bringing the hope of the gospel to this devastated population.

At MISIUR’s Cedin San Genaro location, more than 100 children attended a VBS program, learning about Jesus the Good Shepherd, who calls, cares, and feeds His sheep. They worked through parts of the Heidelberg Catechism, learning that the Bible is the rule and heart of the Christian life. They also learned the lyrics and the melody of Psalm 31.

At MISIUR’s Cedin JJA ICA location, 55 children participated in their VBS program. With the story of the lost sheep, the children learned that Jesus is the good shepherd who gave up his life to forgive us. With the story of the feeding of the five thousand, they learned about showing compassion to their neighbors in need. They also memorized Scripture and learned new songs.

In tutoring classes at both locations, the children worked through language arts and math skills, improving upon and keeping fresh what they studied during the school year.

Prayer Points

Please pray for the Lord to bring the children and their families to know Jesus as their Shepherd, coming to faith in Him.
