Several of Oakseed’s ministry partners use sports activities in their ministries, like soccer and baseball, to help kids develop healthy lifestyles and teach them gospel truths.

As children participate in these sports programs, they are introduced to Jesus and learn what it means to follow Christ. They are also given a sense of belonging in a safe community, which lessens the draw of gangs and crime.

Please pray:

• For the Lord to bring the young people in these programs to faith in Jesus.
• For the Lord to provide the needs of each of these programs so that they can continue to bring the gospel to the children in their communities.
• For the Lord to draw entire families to Christ and the church as their children experience the love of Christ through these ministries.

Brazilian Baseball Association (Brazil) shares the gospel with at-risk children using baseball and softball. Children attend weekly baseball skills training programs and Bible studies, and several kids and their families have begun attending their local church.

Love Never Fails (Ethiopia) decreases the spread of HIV/AIDS and frees women from prostitution in the slums of Addis Ababa. They also provide income-generating activities for women coming out of prostitution and educational support for their children. These children live tough lives, and one way Love Never Fails ministers to them is by providing soccer balls and volleyballs for them to play with together.

Morning Light (Ethiopia) provides child education, helps empower women, and brings health services to people in need in Addis Ababa. Children receive healthy meals, medical care, school supplies, clothing, and tutoring assistance. During the summer break, Morning Light hosts a two-month summer camp for the children, offering activities including games, art, and sports, all infused with gospel teaching. They have also begun a new sports club that meets during the school year, providing another opportunity for the kids to come together for Bible teaching and fellowship in a safe space.

Royal Nest (Liberia) is a tuition-free Christian school for impoverished children in Liberia. One of the poorest countries in the world, 84% of the population of Liberia lives below the poverty line. In addition to giving the children of their community a Christian education, they host a soccer program, where children can develop positive friendships and cultivate team-building skills.
