New Ministry Partner: Hannah House Family (Burundi)

Introducing Hannah House Family, Oakseed’s newest ministry partner, in Bubanza, Burundi!

Hannah House Family (HHF) serves orphans and widows who lack access to education and resources to live a healthy life. With a gospel-centered approach, HHF impacts the lives of at-risk women and children in Burundi by meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

HHF runs a small orphanage where 16 kids attend school and participate in nightly Bible lessons. HHF also works alongside the most vulnerable among widows–those with disabilities, refugees, or persecuted for their faith, ethnicity, or socio-economic standing. Many widows participate in HHF’s six-month sewing program, Women Stand Up, where they learn how to sew and run a small business to move toward self-sufficiency. HHF also builds homes for and distributes blankets to widows.

Additionally, HHF invests in the lives of youth through their kids’ clubs and back-to-school programs. The kids’ clubs include trauma healing classes, a meal, games, writing, drawing, and Bible stories. The back-to-school program involves finding children–both boys and girls–who haven’t been attending school and provides the necessary supplies, support, and transportation to continue their education.

This spring, HHF hosted a kids’ Bible study meeting and had a large number of children attend. They worked with the kids on memorizing Scripture and applying it to their lives. HHF has another children’s outreach planned for the week of Christmas.
