Ministry Update: Calvary Mission Center (India)
CMC serves slum communities through children’s programs, vocational training, and community development.
At the core of CMC’s work are its two large slum churches; these congregations are a testament to the transformative power of the gospel, providing spiritual community for families living in extreme poverty. Through consistent Bible teaching, discipleship, and community service, CMC is making a tangible difference in the lives of Nagpur’s poorest residents. The churches serve as centers of hope and transformation in communities often marginalized by society.
CMC operates an after-school program serving about 65 children. The program provides tutoring, sports activities, and Bible study. This program offers children from struggling families an alternative to the streets, providing structure, encouragement, and hope during critical developmental years.
Despite extreme summer heat in Nagpur reaching 122°F, CMC successfully conducted a five-day VBS for 65 young children. The ministry provided free accommodation and meals throughout the week. Children participated in crafts, games, Bible teaching, and worship. The VBS provided an opportunity to reach children with the gospel who might not otherwise hear about Christ, planting seeds of faith that CMC continues to follow up on throughout the year.
Following VBS, CMC conducted a ten-day Bible school for teens and young adults. This intensive program provided theological studies, evangelism training, and practical ministry experience. CMC continues to engage young people through music programs. The youth music ministry reflects CMC’s vision to prepare young people for ministry, raising up the next generation of leaders who can advance God’s kingdom. Several participants have continued serving in church worship, outreach, and teaching roles following the training.
