Ministry Update: Mustard Seed Orphanage (Myanmar)

The orphanage provides a loving home for children who have lost their parents. At the heart of Mustard Seed’s work is a deep commitment to sharing the gospel and nurturing the faith of the children and widows in their care.

In 2025, Mustard Seed continued to care for 50 orphans at the Main Orphanage Center and 18 orphans at a second Orphanage while navigating Myanmar’s ongoing crisis and expanding ministry to refugees in India. This situation brings many opportunities to demonstrate and proclaim the only real hope—the one true and living hope, the risen Lord Jesus Christ. Burmese Christians are eager to do this and have long history of resilient and tenacious commitment to Christ in face of past opposition and persecution.

The definite highlight for 2025 was the opening of the Sanders Child Care Center. Its purpose is evangelistic but also to raise funds domestically and locally to repay initial costs borrowed to upgrade this building and to provide employment for some of the older orphans who have graduated as teachers. The center is fully approved and staffed and proving to be popular with local residents, with no shortage of parents making applications to enroll. There are currently over 40 children from the local community enrolled.

At a recent parents’ meeting, parents testified to big changes in their children after just 5 months: children becoming polite, humble, obedient, and kind after joining Sanders school. Some parents have transferred their children from other preschools to Sanders preschool based on the transformation they’ve witnessed. The staff shared about God’s love which can change the world during this meeting. The parents are happy and thankful for Sanders school, which makes them see Christian faith and actions demonstrated practically. This represents powerful evangelistic fruit as unbelieving parents are being reached through their kids, and God may use Sanders preschool to share Jesus with them.
