Every Gift Has a Story: Reformed Heart Orphans Center

Oakseed received enough funds for them to buy four cows but had not had the opportunity to share the good news with them yet. Meanwhile, RHOC already had one cow and was eagerly anticipating the birth of her calf.

The next day, Oakseed received a heartbroken message that the cow had delivered a calf but then died. This was a devastating blow to the orphanage, leaving them without a source of milk and with a newborn calf who was likely to die as well, as they had no way to feed it. They didn’t have money to buy a new cow and were trying to figure out if any neighbors had cows who could feed the calf, but nothing seemed to work out.

Oakseed responded immediately with the good news that the Lord had already provided four new cows for them! The money was transferred immediately, and RHOC purchased four cows, one of whom was even able to nurse the calf! The Lord answered their prayers above and beyond what they could have asked or imagined, and he answered them before they even knew to ask for a new cow!

He used the faithful gifts of people across the world to manifest His glorious power to answer prayers that hadn’t even been prayed yet. The donors who gave funds for the cows had already made that decision and given funds long before the cow went into labor. They didn’t know that the Lord would use them to fill a crucial need but were simply being faithful to follow the Lord’s prompting.

It might be hard to imagine how the gift of a cow (or a mosquito net or a chicken) could adorn the preaching of the gospel, but the Lord certainly used these gifts to give substance to all that RHOC’s director and their church had been teaching the kids about Him. These children, and indeed all the adults at Reformed Heart Orphans Center, will never forget this practical demonstration of God’s mercy, faithfulness, and power.
