Ministry Update: JEAME (Brazil)

It conducts evangelistic services in juvenile detention centers across São Paulo, Brazil, reaching over 1,000 teenagers each week. Follow-ups from these efforts include Christian discipleship and vocational training.

JEAME’s Papo de Responsa project provides job training, life skills, and discipleship to youth transitioning out of detention centers. Examples of this would include its barber training program and professional baking course. These courses teach the tools needed to find legitimate employment and avoid falling back into cycles of crime and addiction.

JEAME recently celebrated a partnership with a new women’s detention center, allowing it to conduct evangelistic meetings and Bible studies with the young women incarcerated there. This represents an important step in JEAME’s short-term expansion plan as it seeks to bring comprehensive social, emotional, and spiritual care to more vulnerable young people.

At CASA Diadema, we will have the opportunity to care, listen and sow hope in the hearts of adolescents who face difficult realities, but who also carry dreams, talents and potential to start over. Through the Chaplaincy, we will bring messages of faith and consolation; and through Papo de Responsa, we will offer support and follow-up when they leave the center, so that that they find new paths and opportunities outside the internment system. We celebrate this achievement with gratitude to God and to all who have walked us. Each new door that opens is the result of prayer, dedication, and commitment of the team and partners who believe in transformation of lives.
