Ministry Update: MISIUR (Peru)
Misión Integral Urbano Rural (MISIUR) improves the quality of life for poor children and their families in Peru through comprehensive spiritual and physical care. MISIUR operates two after-school programs, serving 100 children and youth each day. These programs create a safe place away from gang violence where children are fed physically and spiritually.
The director recently shared about a young man who has come up through MISIUR’s programs, illustrating the importance of the regular Bible classes, educational support, counseling, and parental Bible studies:
Willian, a 17-year-old, has grown up in a hardworking family. From a young age, he learned discipline and responsibility by helping his grandmother with the herding and on the farm.
His life took a decisive turn when he entered CEDIN NJA, a space that he considers his second home. There he strengthened his learning, developed a strong faith through biblical devotions and the study of the Heidelberg Catechism, and learned to live with respect, service, and gratitude. Among his most valuable memories are the sports Fridays, moments that taught him teamwork and perseverance.
He steadily advanced in each high school grade and today, as a fifth-year high school student, he dreams of studying civil engineering to contribute to the development of his district. His mother Nancy is deeply grateful for the support of the project, which strengthened her children’s education. Willian’s story shows how family efforts, Christian formation, and institutional guidance can transform lives and open paths of self-improvement.
How to Pray for MISIUR
- In Bible classes, the children have been studying God’s commandments and meditating on Psalms 11 and 31, about learning to trust God even amid danger. Pray for the Lord to help the kids turn to and trust in Him as their rock of refuge and strong fortress.
- Pray for the Lord to continue to use MISIUR’s programs to point young people and their parents to faith in Christ.
