Ministry Update: Teen Ministry (Egypt)

For the past 22 years, Teen Ministry has profoundly impacted the lives of young girls and women in the garbage district of Cairo, Egypt. The ministry focuses on discipleship and mentorship and operates several discipleship groups where young women are nurtured in their faith, equipped with life skills, and encouraged to grow in their relationships with God.

In the past couple of years, Teen Ministry has also expanded to include boys. The young men and boys growing up in this community often get involved in drugs, gangs, and other destructive behaviors. Some of Teen Ministry’s most dedicated female staff members, who themselves had been transformed by Christ through the ministry, began reaching out to them. By God’s grace, the young men’s group has grown rapidly in just a few months, with boys and young men hungry to experience God’s love and find a new path forward. The leaders share stories of young men who were once violent and troubled but are now giving their lives to Christ and becoming leaders, determined to reach others like them.

A short summer update from the directors of Teen Ministry: “As you know, we have guys now, and the Lord is training us to deal with them and to show them the love of God. We struggle a lot, but we’re hanging on to the Lord who started the good work and is able to finish it.

The good news is some of our girls who are well educated now and graduated from a school of Mass Communication got together and started a page for the ministry, video taping, editing, interviews, everything. They’re doing a great job, and thousands and thousands get to see what we’re doing.”
