Ministry Update: Ruama (Brazil)

Ruama’s primary focus is serving at-risk children and adolescents in the Murão Shantytown of São Paulo, Brazil. It offers essential before- and after-school programs that provide children with a safe and nurturing environment.

Recognizing the importance of working with the entire family to address the community’s pressing social and missionary needs, Ruama also works with the families of the children it serves, offering integrated projects aimed at combating violence and domestic abuse and providing support to single mothers, including a weekly women’s group.

Over the summer, the Lord provided volunteers who painted the rooms, repainted games on the floor and graffiti on the walls, organized the thrift store, and cleaned the community garden. It was a wonderful surprise for the children when they returned to Ruama after the school break!

Ruama sells donated clothes, shoes, and accessories in its thrift store. In addition to generating income for its projects, the thrift store also provides a community gathering space. It was a blessing for the thrift store to get an overhaul as well.
