Ministry Update: Bangladesh Hope (Bangladesh)

Ministering in an unreached people group, where only around 0.2% of people identify as Christian, Bangladesh Hope has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant movement of church planting, discipleship, and mercy ministry. One key aspect of its work is the care and support it provides for vulnerable children through its Blessing Home (boys’ orphanage) and Grace Home (girls’ orphanage).

Bangladesh Hope is also deeply committed to extending the love of Christ through practical acts of mercy and compassion. The ministry’s Mercy Ministry responds to emergencies, such as natural disasters, by providing immediate relief to affected communities. Bangladesh Hope also reaches out to the poor, the widowed, and other marginalized groups with offers of food, medical assistance, and other essential resources.

Bangladesh Hope now oversees 34 established house churches, 16 new church planting areas, and 40 active cell groups across the country. In February, a special leadership training was organized for pastors and church workers. Pastors gathered again in May for a spiritual retreat focusing on recommitting to church planting and shepherding. Three new churches were planted in March, and, in June, they joined together to organize a revival meeting with participants from nearby villages.

Bangladesh Hope’s three homes are caring for 32 children, who are growing academically, spiritually, and emotionally. Two girls publicly confessed Christ and were baptized in March.

Bangladesh Hope’s village-based children’s ministry is expanding as it teaches the story of Jesus and shares action songs with children from non-believing backgrounds. Many of these children participate in Sunday School and are learning songs and stories from the Bible. Bangladesh Hope would like to extend this ministry to reach more children in rural villages.
