Ministry Update: Ruama (Brazil)

Ruama is a remarkable ministry located in São Paulo, Brazil, that significantly impacts the lives of children, teenagers, and families in its community. Its primary focus is serving at-risk children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 in the Murão Shantytown. Ruama provides essential before- and after-school programs that offer children a safe and nurturing environment. During these programs, the children participate in educational projects covering subjects like science, math, and Portuguese and engage in games, crafts, supervised play, and Bible lessons. Ruama also provides the children with a nutritious meal every day.

In addition to its work with children, Ruama has recently expanded its reach to include the families of the children it serves. It recognizes the importance of working with the entire family to address the community’s pressing social and missionary needs. Ruama offers integrated projects aimed at combating violence and domestic abuse and providing support to single mothers. This includes establishing a weekly women’s group.
