Meet Semear
Semear’s ministry in São Paulo, Brazil, seeks to meet the physical and eternal needs of the poor and socially vulnerable, including the homeless, refugees, asylum seekers, and children. Pairing the gospel with tangible assistance through agroecology and sport, Semear integrates evangelical outreach, discipleship, and Bible studies into all its programs.
Semear’s urban agriculture program teaches sustainable gardening, language learning, and nutrition to adults and children in several gardens around the city. Harvests are enjoyed by the communities, providing additional food, and the excess is sold in partnering churches to provide supplemental income. Semear shares the gospel and disciples believers through garden programs for young children and adults.
Semear’s sports ministry, The Way, provides a positive community for children, a haven from the dangers and hardships they face daily. This ministry emphasizes five areas: faith in God, education, culture, sustainability, and sport. Through these programs, Semear presents the gospel to children and young people and disciples believers.
Semear is well-respected in the community and has received several commendations and awards for its service. Despite the ever-present potential for gang conflict, it has been able to build relationships with people and provide a safe place for them to seek counsel, assistance, and encouragement.
Oakseed offers several ways to support Semear as it seeks to bring the gospel to its community, including prayer resources and financial support. Please visit our prayer or bazaar catalog pages for more information.
