Ministry Update: Love Link (El Salvador)

Love Link is a remarkable ministry in El Salvador that has been transforming the lives of severely malnourished infants and children for over 35 years. During that time, it has cared for over 3,500 babies who would have otherwise faced a grim fate due to malnutrition.

At its baby house, Love Link’s doctors, nurses, and caregivers work tirelessly to restore these precious children to health. Through specialized nutrition, medical treatment, and loving care, babies who were once on the brink of death are brought back to vibrant life. Love Link’s ministry holds out more than just physical healing – it also shares the love and hope of Jesus Christ with the families, leading many to faith in the process.

Love Link’s impact extends beyond the walls of its baby house, where it operates a network of community dining halls, providing daily meals to 960 children between the ages of 2 and 14. These dining halls nourish growing bodies and serve as a platform for sharing the love and healing power of Jesus Christ with the children and their families.

Love Link has had several babies admitted into its baby house this year. While some of them are on track for a normal recovery process, others have struggled with additional illnesses that make the recovery process more arduous. Baby T is being seen by several other doctors to oversee his special health needs. Baby A was admitted last year and improved enough to return home, but she has recently returned with severe malnutrition again. Doctors have discovered that Baby J also has a heart disease and will potentially need heart surgery once he has recovered from severe malnutrition and reaches the ideal weight for his age.

Love Link hosts an ambulatory checkup program for children, including those discharged from the Baby House, who need additional care but can live at home with their families. In the past, Love Link was only able to offer this program in the mornings. This year, however, the Lord has provided for Love Link to be able to also offer afternoon sessions, and it now has over 400 children being cared for. Each of these children’s families is also given food baskets at each visit to contribute to the overall health and nutritional needs of the entire family.
