Ministry Update: Bangladesh Hope (Bangladesh)

Bangladesh is a South Asian country with a population of over 165 million people, making it one of the most densely populated nations in the world. Tragically, it is also considered an “unreached” people group when it comes to Christianity, with only about 0.2% of the population identifying as Christian, and the vast majority being Muslim.

Bangladesh Hope is dedicated to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to the people of Bangladesh, looking to see them transformed by the power and hope of the gospel, and it has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant movement of church planting, discipleship, and mercy ministry. One of the key aspects of its work is the care and support it provides for vulnerable children through its Blessing Home (boys’ orphanage) and Grace Home (girls’ orphanage).

Bangladesh Hope Church

Bangladesh Hope Church continues to serve in the Southern and Northern Regions and Chittagong Hill Tracts. Its ministry is growing among Bengali communities as well as many different indigenous groups.

On the church planting front, around 50 cell groups were active in April. These cell groups help believers grow in faith and also create a strong foundation for future church planting.

One of the greatest joys of April was the planting of a new church among an indigenous community. After long-term prayer, relationship-building, and faithful ministry, 27 people from 9 families were baptized and formed a new church fellowship. This is a powerful testimony of God’s grace in a remote and difficult area. Please pray that these new believers will grow strong in faith, remain faithful to Christ, and become living witnesses in their community.

Blessing and Grace Homes

At Blessing Home–01, 16 boys are living under the care of the local church. They are healthy and active in school, worship, prayer, Bible memorization, and church programs. One of the boys, Romiyo, became champion at the Upazila level in the “Notun Kuri” football competition and will now participate at the district level. This was a joyful encouragement for us.

The college boys at Blessing Home–02 are also growing in responsibility and leadership. On Good Friday, they preached the Seven Words of Jesus from the cross with confidence and spiritual maturity. They are also preparing for their final HSC examination, so please keep them in your prayers.

At Grace Home, 12 girls are living under Hope Central Church. They are healthy, studying regularly, and growing through daily morning and evening devotions.

How to Pray for Bangladesh Hope

• Rejoice in God’s goodness to plant a new church, and pray that these new believers will grow strong in faith, remain faithful to Christ, and become living witnesses in their community.
• Pray for the Lord to embolden and protect believers as they seek to share the gospel and see churches planted.
• Pray for the Lord to continue to bless the boys at Blessing Home and girls at Grace Home, giving them good health, helping them be diligent in their studies, giving direction for the future, and growing them in faith in Christ.
