Ministry Update: U Tawna (Myanmar)
U Tawna is a Christ-centered residential ministry in Yangon, Myanmar, providing safe housing, quality education, and spiritual formation for children from the most vulnerable circumstances in the country. U Tawna serves 39 children whose families face circumstances that make it impossible to keep them at home.
Earlier this month, after the Water Festival, the director took several staff and boarding students on a trip to a region affected by the recent earthquake. They toured the city and enjoyed a time of spiritual retreat, taking time to encourage, disciple, and challenge the students in their faith and walks with the Lord.
The academic year concluded in March, so students are currently enjoying their summer season before returning for the new school year in June. Although classes do not resume until June, some students will begin returning to campus throughout the month of May. The students who have remained over break are taking computer and English classes in preparation for the upcoming academic year, and the high schoolers are pursuing advanced studies in math and science to get a head start on the challenging, fast-paced curriculum.
How to Pray for U Tawna
- Please pray for the students as they prepare academically for the coming year.
- Pray for the fruit of faith and growth in Christ in the students who went on the retreat.
- Pray for the Lord to sustain the five residential staff members and refresh the teachers and counselors over break, giving them renewed hearts for ministry and rest in Christ.
- Pray for Myanmar's political situation and the safety of all ministry staff, students, and missionary families they serve.
