Ministry Update: Arise and Shine (Kenya)
Arise and Shine has recently acquired a sensory room/physiotherapy room and equipment to enhance therapy services for children with disabilities. This milestone was made possible through funding from Rosslyn Academy and is poised to transform the lives of children who require sensory integration therapy. The sensory machine will directly benefit over 30 children, allowing them to access consistent and professional treatment within their community.
Understanding the financial challenges caregivers face, Arise and Shine has introduced an income-generating initiative—a peanut processing business. This project is designed to equip caregivers with sustainable livelihoods, enabling them to support their families while caring for children with disabilities. Arise and Shine is currently in the process of procuring a peanut processing machine. The caregivers will be trained on peanut processing, business operations, and marketing strategies to ensure the initiative’s sustainability.
Arise and Shine also remains actively engaged in advocacy, sensitization, and capacity-building for the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Awareness campaigns focus on educating families on the rights and needs of children with disabilities. Capacity building trains caregivers on therapy techniques and home-based support strategies. It also reaches out to disability rights groups and local leaders to strengthen collaboration and communication.
