Ministry Update: Lily of the Valleys (Brazil)

Lily of the Valleys is a Christ-centered therapeutic community in Catanduva, Brazil, that provides holistic treatment and rehabilitation for women struggling with drug addiction. Founded over 30 years ago, this ministry has been a beacon of hope, transforming the lives of countless women and their families through the power of the gospel.

The women who come to this community are not just treated for their physical addictions but are also ministered to spiritually. Through intensive discipleship, Bible study, and prayer, the staff and volunteers at Lily of the Valleys guide these women towards true freedom and restoration.

The Brazilian government has been making it increasingly difficult for Christ-centered therapeutic communities to operate. Currently, Lily has reduced its group size to continue providing quality care for the women. Increased paperwork, training, conference, and meeting requirements are becoming a growing burden to Lily’s small staff. Through it all, the prayers of the director and staff are for the Lord to rescue the women in their care from addiction and draw them to freedom and life in Christ.

In the first quarter of the year, women participated in individual and group counseling sessions. Some of these group sessions were discussions with women from the community who have had similar experiences, giving the current participants a vision for how the Lord can rescue and change them. Sessions tailored to each participant’s particular needs covered emotional pain and the challenges related to foster care and separation from family. At weekly family visitations, the team took the opportunity to counsel family members, as many of them also struggle with separation and even health issues.
