Ministry Update: Ruama (Brazil)

The ministerial support, through prayers and monthly financial support from Oakseed, has helped to strengthen the evangelization actions, cultural workshops developed at the headquarters, and community actions. The children, adolescents, and their families participating in the missionary and social action projects are welcomed with care and love, principles that are part of our professional and missionary vocation. Their mothers are cared for in the Murão Community, where they live, and participate in the Ruama Women’s Project through activities such as Conversation Circles, Creative and Craft Workshops, Pastoral Guidance and Counseling, and other activities in the Ruama Community Space.

We hold discussion groups to share news and experiences, make agreements, resolve conflicts, address specific issues, and expand knowledge through exchanging information. In the reading groups, the teacher conducts readings, facilitates individual and group readings, and encourages weekly book lending with the goal of allowing children to read with their families. In the weekly Bible classes, biblical stories are shared and discussed, reinforcing the teachings of Jesus based on love, respect, solidarity, and citizenship, among others.

We see women who want to embrace opportunities to grow fully, seeking self-care and health to take on new challenges, especially single mothers who fight for the well-being of their children, family, and community. Many participate in our Conversation Circles and have demonstrated leadership skills with valuable initiatives such as coordinating the bazaar, selling products, and learning new things from creative workshops.

It is important to note that the ones who stand out the most are those who profess their faith and communion with God, which fills us with gratitude. The Gospel is transformative.

We have a Welcoming Space to serve women individually, with pastoral guidance and prayer. Many of them are distressed, with emotional and physical illnesses, stress, depression, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
