Meet Kenya Needy Orphans and Children

Kenya Needy Orphans and Children (KNOC) promotes high school education and post-graduation planning for orphans and impoverished children in Kisumu, Kenya. KNOC meets the educational needs of local lay pastors’ families who shepherd churches without pay. This ministry cares for impoverished children and orphans from local church congregations and connects them with local churches for discipleship and support.

Children are provided with school fees, vocational skills, and career guidance. KNOC’s goal is to offer educational opportunities and encourage kids to serve the Lord in their churches, career paths, and all of life. KNOC hosts retreats and spiritual seminars to help youth to grow in their faith.

Kenya, located in East Africa, lies along the Equator, bordered by Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Lake Victoria, and the Indian Ocean. Its population, around 56 million, comprises many different ethnic groups.

Almost 40% of the population of Kenya are youths under the age of 15, and the child poverty rate is around 60%. Education is crucial not only to help combat poverty but also to raise the next generation of church leaders and members.

As a ministry, we are grateful to the Lord that some of the students we have been supporting in school have gained knowledge and skills that have enabled them to take care of themselves and give some support to their families. Also, having been to school, the students were then able to understand the gospel, and some of them have been saved and have gone ahead to serve in the church.
