Meet Reformed Heart Orphans Center

Reformed Heart Orphans Center (Kenya) is raising 35 orphaned children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, establishing the children in a loving family environment where they are cared for and discipled. The children are integrated into the life of their local church, where they receive spiritual instruction and worship together.

In addition to providing a loving home environment, RHOC enrolls children in local schools and supports them in their educational endeavors. Reaching high school is a significant milestone for orphans, and without RHOC’s support, many of their young people would not be able to afford the cost of high school tuition. RHOC also provides the children with food, housing, and medical care. Children participate in computer classes and learn to sew their own clothes. Additionally, RHOC runs a dairy farm with four milking cows to provide milk for the children.

One creative way they demonstrate the dignity and worth of each child is by hosting monthly birthday celebrations, where every child enjoys cake and special treats, and the birthday children receive gifts.

Kenya, located in East Africa, lies along the Equator, bordered by Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Lake Victoria, and the Indian Ocean. Its population, around 56 million, comprises many different ethnic groups. Forty percent of its population is under age 15, and about seventy percent lives in rural areas.

Millions of Kenyan children are orphans, many because of political crises resulting from tribal wars and the devastating impact of HIV. There is a massive need for them to have safe homes, access to education, and stable food sources, especially if they are to rise out of poverty as they reach adulthood.
