Ministry Update: CEMIPRE
CEMIPRE ’s mission is to reduce the impact of disability by addressing the spiritual, emotional, and physical consequences of blindness and to integrate those with special needs into the church, society, and work. One aspect of this ministry involves various outings, where participants learn how to navigate public spaces while enjoying cultural experiences. Another training aspect teaches participants how to accomplish everyday tasks that might seem insurmountable because of reduced sight. Here are a few recent outings and training events.
CEMIPRE took participants to the Artequin Museum, where the staff guided them through two floors. Several artworks had embossed examples or audio descriptions to deepen the experience for people with visual disabilities. The museum itself had ramps and other details that evidenced its efforts to include people with visual needs.

Another family outing was to La Granja Valpo, an interactive farm founded by a veterinarian. In addition to getting to know several of the animals up close, they were able to feed them and hear how they arrived at the farm. Afterward, participants enjoyed a picnic lunch and pool time together.
