Ministry Update: Missions Trip to CEMIPRE (Chile)

This summer, two high schoolers had the opportunity to participate in a summer missions trip to CEMIPRE in Chile.

CEMIPRE serves families and individuals with vision impairment (low vision or blindness), involving family and friends as much as possible to educate and encourage program participants. Rather than focusing on a diagnosis or a disability, the ministry highlights each participant’s value and dignity. A devoted group of local pastors and church members teach beneficiaries 30-minute devotionals twice a week.

For the missions trip, CEMIPRE provided housing, transportation, and meals. They also provided an evaluation that looked at their skills, interests, and abilities to help place them in the right jobs. They were able to attend staff meetings and group and individual sessions with CEMIPRE’s clients.

When asked about their experience, the young men responded:

We both had an amazing and fun experience with CEMIPRE in Chile. We assisted people who are blind, painted a room at CEMIPRE, sanded a church, and generally helped around the place. We made some new friends and we miss the people there too. We did a lot of fun things and went to places in Chile as well. For anyone who is interested in volunteering with CEMIPRE, you will never regret it.

Prayer Points

  • Please pray for the Lord to continue to work in these young men’s lives, giving them a love for Him and His church and a desire to see the gospel go forth.
  • Please pray for the Lord to continue to use CEMIPRE to bring the gospel of hope to families and individuals with vision impairment.
