Easter Outreach

As part of their Easter outreach this year, Sugandh distributed new clothes and shoes to the children in the Madanpur Khadar slum. While their mothers are at work, most of these children are left at home to care for younger siblings or sent out to work all day collecting dangerous medical trash to earn money for their families. They often only have one set of clothing, which quickly becomes dirty and worn out. This annual clothing distribution is one of the many ways Sugandh seeks to hold out the gospel to the children, showing them that they are valued and have dignity and worth because they are created in God’s image.

One of the young women from the Madanpur community recently completed her general nursing midwifery certification. In total, four girls have graduated this year, and Sugandh’s director rejoices to share that all of them are believers and following Christ and serving the community through their skills and Christ’s love.

Vocational Training

Sugandh’s various ministries have arisen out of the seen needs in the slum communities, and they seek to bring the gospel into every facet of these endeavors. Because a majority of these slum dwellers are undocumented immigrants, it is difficult to secure jobs and provide for their families. One way Sugandh develops gospel relationships is through vocational training classes, such as the sewing classes at their Holambi Kalan project.

Community Awareness

Sugandh recently observed International Tuberculosis Day at both of their communities, presenting about causes, symptoms, treatment, and govt. policies regarding tuberculosis. Over 130 people attended these sessions.

Prayer Points

  • Please pray for opportunity for ongoing gospel relationships through Sugandh’s various mercy ministries.
  • Pray for the Lord to show the children His great steadfast love and faithfulness and bring many to faith in Jesus.
  • Pray for the Lord to provide jobs for each of the graduates, mature them in Christ, and make them to be blessings to their communities.
  • Pray for the Lord to give Sugandh’s instructors clarity and boldness in sharing the gospel with their students, prepare hearts to receive the gospel, and bring many to faith and maturity in Christ.
  • Pray that the women in their self-help groups would grow in skill and a sense of dignity and worth as they are able to help provide for their families.
